11.15   Planning and Sustainability; What Lies Ahead? by Hugh Ellis, Chief Planner of the Town and Country Planning Association

  • What is planning for? Inspirational examples of sustainable development
  • The planning system as it is now; about Local Development Frameworks
  • A new kind of planning? Neighbourhood plans and the Decentralisation and Localism Bill

12.30 Question and Answer Session to clarify the information presented

Panel discussion on the guiding principles and considerations for sustainability and resilience in Herefordshire Hugh Ellis (TCPA), Rob Garner (Herefordshire New Leaf, Herefordshire In Transition), Garry Thomas (Hereford Civic Society) and Karen Leach (Localise West Midlands).

2.30  Workshops on Key Issues Topic-based workshops on current policies, on the evidence-base that supports them and on alternative approaches and new ways forward.

4.15  Summing Up and Next Steps Reflections on the day; looking into the future of community planning and proposed follow up meeting.
